Lily's had a hard time of things for a while. Her papa has gotten more and more busy with work, which has affected his availability to get Lily out in time for her bathroom breaks. It doesn't help that the family lives in a third floor apartment. Unsurprisingly, Lily was having accidents at home. Together with the issue of papa's unavailability to take her out, the recent potty issues convinced owner that it is time to find Lily a home that is a better fit for her. Once Lily came into our rescue and saw our vet, we learned that her body indicated that she had had a pregnancy about 18 months ago. Thus, the incontinence we're seeing, at least in part (maybe all?), has to do with the pregnancy-related changes to her body. Consistent with this theory, the foster did report that she is able to go a long time without any accidents but has a harder time overnight and she drips when she gets excited (kind of like puppies do). We will continue to monitor her and update information.
As one of her pictures shows, Lily gets along with cats. A bad experience with another dog 10 years ago (at age one!) leads us to playing it safe and finding her a home with no dogs. What we do know from a visit to the vet and 2 hours in a dog-crowded waiting room, that she is not dog reactive but definitely objects when they get too close. Lily is overweight, so soon enough she will be much lighter on her feet. She is a very, very mellow dog and loves her bed and napping. Upon meeting us, Lily showed her sociability with humans. She ate up our love and kept coming over for head scratches and belly rubs. We would love to put Lily in another home as soon as possible. Lily needs to be on a first floor, so she can get out to potty more easily.
