Surrendering Your Senior Dog (Surrender Application below)
Sometimes, circumstances arise that we have no control over. Maybe grandmother has to go into a nursing home and can’t take her dog with her. Or maybe a family member became sick and caring for them and the responsibilities of a family pet has become too difficult. Or maybe the new baby is allergic. Whatever the circumstances, a difficult decision is made. We have great sympathy and empathy for people facing such a tough decision. At Citizen Canine Senior Dog Rescue, we strive to make the experience as painless as possible for both pet owner and pet. For example, we will tell you about your pet’s trip to us and how they are doing. Maybe for the dog, we’ll bring a piece of your clothing with us so the dog has something familiar from home. We represent your dog very honestly so a prospective adoptive family knows exactly who your dog is and what their social, emotional, and medical needs are. In this way, we greatly decrease the likelihood that the dog will be returned. After all, our goal is to ultimately find the best possible home for your pet where it will be cherished and cared for throughout its life.
