Why adopt a senior dog?

Adoption saves lives!

Research shows that age is the single best predictor of a dog being adopted. Younger dogs fare better in this equation. We are the first to admit that puppies are cute and cuddly. But we'll also acknowledge that puppies chew, potty everywhere, and nip, nip, nip. Our seniors have been there and done that! Especially because they have been around the block a few times, they just want to love, lounge, and be utterly grateful that they can go home with you for a happily-ever-after life. Citizen Canine Rescue exists to give senior dogs a better chance of finding that happily-ever-after home. Rescuing senior dogs is lifesaving. The more senior dogs adopted, the more lives saved!

Adoption Fees

$250 for a Senior Citizen Canine
$225 for a bonded pair of Senior Citizen Canines
$100 for a Senior Citizen Canine if you are a person 65+ yrs or have a disability
$75 for a bonded pair of Senior Citizen Canines if you are a person 65+ yrs or have a disability
FOR VETERANS: Free for a single Senior Citizen Canine or a bonded pair.

What is adopting like?

At Citizen Canine Rescue, we fundamentally believe that in the dog-adopter relationship, love and nurturing is a two-way street. Our senior dogs enter your home and your life. They accept your love and care, eat your food, take your cuddles, and generally, nestle in the cradle of the new life you have given them. Yes, you give a lot to your new pet, no doubt! But you might also notice that your heart is happier and your smile is softer because of what this new pet brings to your life. Throw one of our senior Citizen Canines a bone. They'll take it and then give you even more in return!

How can you make a difference in a senior dog's life?

We can't change a dog's past, but we can help change their future. Before you come along, our senior Citizen Canines have been on pause. They are neither here, nor there. What a gift it is then, when you can give a senior dog the stability of a permanent home and a love that won't quit. Is there room in your life for lifelong canine love?
