This is a tough bio to read but please hang in there til the end: Lulu, 13 years and 6 lbs, a Dachshund, and Nellie, 10 years and 12 lbs, a Chihuahua mix, are a sweet set of lifelong gal pals. They are about to have their little hearts broken. Just as they have settled into their adoptive home of 2 months, their mom has gotten a job that requires a lot of travel and can't keep them. While we would normally aim for a bonded pair to be adopted together, the case with these girls is such that it might also be possible to separate them. The basis for this conclusion is that Lulu is sick and may not be around for long. Based on the vet's observation and Lulu's symptoms, her vet suspects that Lulu has cancer. Diagnostic tests to check might be too harsh for the little girl. on her state. Perhaps as part of her medical situation, Lulu has also begun to struggle with incontinence. She uses puppy pads regularly, however. So in the case of Lulu, we are looking for a person who is willing to keep her as a hospice pet, with all medical costs covered by us. Given these circumstances, Nellie and Lulu do not need to be an adoptive package. Nellie is also showing signs of separating from her sister, maybe sensing Lulu's illness and decline. If someone was interested in adopting Nellie and also serving as hospice for Lulu at the same time, that would be nice, but it is not required. Personality-wise, Lulu has a quiet, lovely demeanor. Nellie has a bit more pep in her step and can run a few circles around her sister. Both of these girls are mild-mannered and easy going. Nellie is housebroken. They get along with dogs but have no experience with cats. This pair of girls is no-nonsense and will mostly pass the day just snoozing and cuddling.
