Maddie is a sweet, loving Shih Tzu, whose broken-hearted owners are forced to give her up because they have to move and can’t keep her. Maddie has been with them since she was 7. Before that, she was at a Texas shelter that had rescued her from an abusive situation when she was 5 years old. And at 12 young years she is also a trim 12 lbs. She is spayed and micro-chipped. She is up to date on all vaccinations. She is mostly house-broken. At this point, it is unclear if the tinkling we have seen when she is left alone for a long period of time is because she really is not housebroken or if it is related to the distress of being separated from her owner, to whom she was very attached after 7 long years with him. Her new owner would have to be prepared to weather this little patch with Maddie. Other than that, the little sweetheart gets along well with both dogs and cats. She is not aggressive, though she can hold her own with a bigger dog that thinks it can push her around. She is not a big barker. And most of the time, she just “chills”. She is very loyal and gets very attached. “She’ll be your best friend,” said her owner, who actually used the word "daughter" when describing his personal relationship with her.
